Thomas McCarthy for Town Clerk – Incumbent

Smithtown resident Thomas D. McCarthy has over 40 years of private sector executive experience. During his career in the private sector, Tom managed multi-million-dollar security enterprises in the NY Metro area.  McCarthy provided security services to some of the largest corporations headquartered in the New York / Long Island Region. McCarthy has a winning track record working for major corporate entities in the industry, developing and implementing strategies to improve efficiencies and restore profitability.  

In his first term, Town Clerk McCarthy worked to streamline records management, improve ease of access for online permits, and build upon his predecessor’s Veterans Resource Center to include employment and job training opportunities, home loan assistance and family health services. Tom’s overall objective is to provide the people of Smithtown with a well-operated, warm and  welcoming experience when conducting business at the Smithtown Town Clerk’s Office.

Thomas D. McCarthy has called Smithtown home for over 25 years, where he lives with his wife Debbie, a successful business executive for an international telecommunications company, and where his son; Thomas, was raised.
